Don't Speak, Don't Breathe, 9" x 12" oil on wood panel, 2016

"I experiment with vibrant, abstract colors and a sharp, limited use of value to depict only the planes of a person or object that are necessary for recognition. My understanding of visual perception – that the human mind can perceive more than it sees, that it can “fill in the blanks” – is what led me to paint the way that I do, saying so much with so little and appreciating what is literally seen versus what is psychologically believed."
